Seagrape Leaves
Acrylic (13′ x 8′)
Lacey spent her childhood in Fort Myers. She was out on the water every weekend and learned to love the environment of water, tidal islands, sand, shells and sun. At the age of twelve she returned to Jacksonville for years before she made it back down to South Florida. Her first trip back only became emotional when she saw the seagrape leaves. When everything else had seemed to be erased from her childhood, the “seagrapes” remained.

Wife, mother, full-time employee, daughter, house keeper, writer, artist…the roles go on. When Lacey joined this watercolor class at the Ponte Vedra Culture Center, time to work on homework was hard to come by. “I thought I had really messed up with my time management for this painting assignment, there was still so much left to do. I asked for forgiveness because it wasn’t complete. However, I heard “this is your best work yet.” And, the lesson was learned. Sometimes we do too much. Sometimes we need to simplify, just lay down the shapes with the time we have to create and be done.”
Mickler’s Welcome
Acrylic on Canvas (36′ x 48′)
Ready to expand and explore her gratitude for Florida’s tropical plants. Lacey noticed this plant at the entrance of the pathway at Mickler’s Beach and had to paint it. “I can appreciate the reminder it gave me to be open and let things flow to me. Painting it was a spiritual experience”.
